School staff have been working hard preparing for a new school year; floors are shiny, desks are ready and we are excited to greet everyone on Tuesday, September 8th. Here are a few reminders for the upcoming school year.
School Arrival & Drop Off
School yard supervision starts at 8:20 am. Students arriving by bus will be dropped off at the front of the school and will make their way to the appropriate school yard (K-2 on the front yard, grades 3 to 8 on the back yard). Students being dropped off can exit vehicles along the sidewalk and make their way to their school yard. If you are going to park your car and bring your children to the school yard, please park in the parking lot and cross at the crosswalk to the sidewalk. This will help avoid traffic congestion entering the school. Remember, in the morning please exit out of the parking lot along Spruce Glen Dr. where you came in. Please do not drop students off before supervision starts at 8:20 am.
School Dismissal and Pick up
All students taking a school bus home will wait for their bus on the front yard. Students who are getting picked up will wait at the front entrance. Parents / guardians picking up should confirm with school staff before leaving the area with a student. When exiting the parking lot at the end of the school day, please proceed around the back of the school and exit out of the drive at the north end of the school property.
Attendance
Regular, consistent attendance at school is a key factor in school success and an important part of student learning and development. However, we understand there will be occasions where students will be dropped off after the start of the school day or picked up before the end of the school day. A reminder that parents or guardians need to come into the school to sign-in or sign-out their student.
Food at School
A reminder that Spruce Glen PS is a nut free school. Please do not send items to school that contain peanuts or simulated nut products such as WOW butter. Families will receive classroom specific letters informing them of any specific allergies in their child’s classroom. Your cooperation to keep our school safe for all is appreciated.
Welcome Back / Meet the Teacher BBQ
Our Meet the Teacher / Terry Fox BBQ is scheduled for Thursday, September 24th. Mark. your calendars for this annual school wide event as it is always a great time to reconnect with school families and friends. Look for more information about this event over the coming weeks.
School Picture Days
School pictures will take place on Monday, September 28th & Tuesday, September 29th. Please contact your child’s teacher for specific information
