The role of a school board trustee

Dear TLDSB parents/guardians and staff,

October 20 to 24 is Local Government Week and we would like to recognize the TLDSB Board of Trustees whose role it is to promote and uphold good governance practices in the school board.

School board trustees are locally elected representatives and your community’s advocate for public education. The primary responsibilities of a trustee include establishing and supporting all aspects of governance, including approving TLDSB policies, promoting transparency and accountability to the public through monitoring the Board’s multi-year strategic plan, and ensuring financial accountability for the use of public funds.

Please see the video below to meet the TLDSB Board of Trustees and to learn more about their roles and responsibilities in public education. You can also visit our Meet Your School Trustee page on our website.
