Over the past thirty years, Spruce Glen PS’s turkey dinner tradition has been running strong. With the help of students and staff, Spruce Glen is very excited that we had the opportunity to host another successful feast. During lunch on December 14th in the gym of Spruce Glen, the turkey dinner took place. There were a variety of delicious food options, ranging from tasty peas to turkey. We sat together for a flavourful meal and enjoyed learning about the history of Spruce Glen PS from the special guests that attended the dinner. The eighth-grade students had an opportunity to attend and help prepare a fancy dinner.
The turkey dinner has been a tradition at Spruce Glen for over thirty years. This tradition was created by Mr. Griffiths, who originally started the tradition at Riverside Public School. Not only is this event an opportunity for students to expand their etiquette and social skills, but it is also put on to support the table soup kitchen. All of the proceeds go to the Table Soup Kitchen. Spruce Glen raised over $800 for the table this year. Heather Cassie accepted a cheque from Spruce Glen on behalf of The Table Soup Kitchen Foundation. This dinner couldn’t have been possible without the eighth-grade students. Spruce Glen is so fortunate to have such helpful students. The eighth graders brought in tasty desserts, tablecloths, centrepieces, and more.
Overall, the turkey dinner had an astonishing turnout, and we hope to keep this tradition alive.
